After what feels like hundreds of PDA filled walks with their dogs snapped by the paparazzi, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas have reportedly broken up after less than a year together.
“Ben is no longer dating Ana,” a source revealed to PEOPLE. “She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles.”
“This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable,” another source added of the couple. “They are in different points in their lives and there is deep love and respect there and Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he’s a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives.”
The two were first romantically linked earlier last year when they were filming their upcoming erotic thriller, Deep Water, in New Orleans together. After a romantic trip to Costa Rica and de Armas’ native Cuba in March, the costars began self-quarantining together in Los Angeles and daily PDA-packed outings. Constantly snapped by paparazzi holding hands and kissing while walking their dogs, the couple quickly got on everyone’s radar. The Knives Out star made their relationship Instagram official in April when she shared a photo of the two celebrating her 32nd birthday.
Just last month, de Armas moved into Affleck’s $20 million mansion in L.A.’s Pacific Palisades and their close pals even speculated that an engagement could be right around the corner.
The 48-year-old was previously married to actress Jennifer Garner and shares three children with her: daughters Violet, 14, and Seraphina, 11, and son Samuel, 8. Back in February 2020, he opened up about his desire to find someone special and stay rededicated to his sobriety.
“I would love to have a relationship that is deeply meaningful and one to which I could be deeply committed,” he explained on Good Morning America. “Five years from now Ben Affleck is sober and happy and sees his kids three-and-a-half days a week and has made three or four movies that are interesting to him. I directed two [movies] that he is hopefully proud of and is in a healthy, stable, loving, committed relationship.”
