The trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie officially dropped this week and everyone has been freaking out (rightfully so) over the script, the set, the costumes (we could go on and on). Margot Robbie leads the cast as Barbie alongside A-list co-stars including Ryan Gosling as Ken, Dua Lipa as Mermaid Barbie, Will Ferrell as Mattel’s CEO, Issa Rae as President Barbie, plus other stars like America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Simu Liu and more round out the cast.

Over the past year, we’ve been seeing a lot of pink-on-pink looks, dubbed “Barbiecore,” which really took hold after Valentino’s Pink PP collection. The film’s aesthetic shows a new approach to the term “Barbiecore” because key pieces are truly paying homage to the iconic Barbie doll. There’s Barbie’s retro black and white swimsuit with the white cat-eye sunglasses. A ton of shell jewelry is worn by the cast during the beach scene in the trailer, and of course, Barbie’s feathered pink mules make a memorable appearance when Robbie slips out of the shoe and retains the doll’s perfect tip-toe arch.

We couldn’t help but think that every single colorful look in the trailer would be perfect inspiration to model our wardrobes after this summer. Below are Barbie-inspired items for all of those who are just as excited for the movie as we are. July 21st can’t come fast enough!

Retro-Inspired Swimsuit

In the very first teaser of the film, costume designer Jacqueline Durran paid homage to the first Barbie doll ever released in 1959. Margot Robbie was dressed in the black and white chevron stripe swimsuit complete with white cat-eye sunglasses, gold hoops and black mules — identical to the original Barbie’s look. 64 years later, the suit is still a timeless style. Beachy Jewels

If you want a more subtle way to incorporate Barbie’s style into your look, try accessories. In one of the beach scenes in the trailer, Barbie was spotted wearing all of this fabulous shell jewelry. These necklaces, rings and earrings are the perfect summertime accessory whether you want to channel Barbie or just look cute.

Feathered Mules

In the opening scene of the trailer, Robbie steps out of a pair of pink feathered mules and keeps her feet perfectly arched, just like the doll’s feet. It caused massive infatuation across the internet — in fact, Chrissy Teigen wants a documentary created on the making of the shot! For all those girly-girls and Barbie-lovers out there, lean into pure Barbie vibes and get a pair of pink feathered mules — I know I am.
