In case you haven’t opened your Instagram app today, you’ll likely be aware of Ariana Grande‘s recent wedding to beau Dalton Gomez. The singer married her real estate fiancé last week, but successfully kept the ceremony under wraps until she released a host of sweet snaps on her Instagram from the day. It was here we got our first glimpse of Grande as a bride, and her wedding look didn’t disappoint.

Much speculation had abounded as to what the singer would opt for in terms of hair and makeup for her nuptials. During her years in the spotlight Grande has coined a familiar aesthetic – characterized by a sleek high ponytail and winged eyeliner – but in recent years, we’ve see the star experiment with subtle tweaks to her trademark look.

While she once exclusively wore her hair in a towering poker-straight ponytail, Grande now wears her hair out on occasion, or opts for a low pony. As for her makeup, the 34+35 singer often chooses a more natural makeup look than she once preferred. When it came to her wedding hair and makeup, we were beyond curious to see which route she went.

As the photos on Grande’s Instagram indicate, she opted for a timeless take on her classic aesthetic – a half-way point, if you will – by wearing her long hair pulled back in a half-up, half-down style that provided an elegant twist on her signature style.

The hairstyle, which was imagined by stylist Josh Liu, provided an anchor for her stunning bubble veil and kept her face on show, while a significant portion of her locks hung soft and loose in waves down her back.

For her makeup, the star’s longtime makeup artist Ash K Holm created an elongated winged eyeliner look with neatly groomed brows, a nude matte lip, a sculpted base and a strobe of highlighter across the cheek. The end result felt equal parts bridal and soft, while still quintessentially Grande.
