Yesterday, unexpected wedding bells were ringing in Montecito, California, after it was confirmed that Ariana Grande had secretly married her real estate fiance Dalton Gomez over the weekend in an intimate wedding of just 20 guests

A rep confirmed the nuptials to People in a statement on Monday, saying simply, “They got married,” before adding, “It was tiny and intimate… the room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”

Thankfully, despite the bride and groom staying silent about their big day so far, a few sources have spoken out, with one telling E! News that the reason the couple decided to marry now is because both of their schedules are picking up now that lockdown is easing in the US.

“They always wanted an intimate ceremony,” the source shared. “They decided to have the wedding this past weekend because their schedules are picking up and neither wanted to wait.”

Though they might have moved things forward a bit to cater to work picking back up, the source added the wedding “was always in the cards for summertime.”

Below, everything we know about Grande and Gomez’s wedding—and whirlwind relationship—so far.

The ceremony

Grande and Gomez decided to host the ceremony in the backyard of Grande’s Montecito home, surrounded by hundreds of white florals, E! News reports.

“It was beautiful but not over the top,” the publication’s source says. “Ari wanted it to be simplistic and tasteful. All they cared about was having family there and to be able to enjoy the special moment together.”

The location

Grande’s home in Montecito is a 5,500-square-foot Tudor-style mansion, also known as the Porter House, which she bought off Ellen DeGeneres in 2020. Comprised of two separate barns originally built in Surrey, England, the Porter House was reportedly dismantled and reconstructed in the affluent Californian suburb—also home to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Oprah—as one cohesive home.

“Both Ari and Dalton love Montecito. They spend a lot of time there,” a source told People. “It seems only natural that they would get married at Ari’s beautiful and historic house.”

The dress

As of yet, we’re still waiting for Grande herself to speak about her wedding—and hopefully share photos, however, I wouldn’t hold your breath for a wedding dress picture: the singer is said to be respectful of her new husband’s privacy when it comes to her social media usage, and sharing personal news with her following of 235 million. Gomez reportedly prefers to stay out of the spotlight and keep their relationship private.

The romance

Grande and Gomez reportedly met and started dating in January 2020 when Grande was house hunting and Gomez was working at a property she was looking at. A source told Us Weekly last year, “Ariana was looking for a home outside of Los Angeles to be her getaway house, and her team found Dalton to help. When she saw him, she immediately thought he was cute and very good-looking, and she asked her team to set up an in-person meeting with him. Ariana fell very hard for Dalton shortly after they met.”

The couple went public with their romance in May 2020, when they appeared in the ‘Stuck With U’ music video (Grande’s song with Justin Bieber). Gomez popped the question in December with Grande sharing a photo of her unique pearl and diamond engagement ring to Instagram shortly after.  “Forever n then some,” she wrote.

Grande and Gomez reportedly forged a strong bond during the pandemic, with a source telling E! News, “Quarantine really solidified their bond and made them closer than ever.”

A different source told Us Weekly in late August 2020—three months before the proposal—that Gomez really takes care of Grande and that her previous boyfriends never “met her needs in the same way Dalton does. Her exes acted as though she was demanding and had crazy standards,” they said.

That source added that Gomez “is the type of guy she has been looking for. He’s very protective of her, will go out of his way for her and does little things that are chivalrous. Dalton will go above and beyond to meet her needs.” They noted, “their relationship is serious. They’ve fallen madly in love with each other.”

The newlyweds have kept their relationship private over the past 18 months, and are rarely spotted out in public together. In April, Grande shared a few images of her now husband on Instagram. “My heart my person,” she wrote. “Thank u so much for being u.”

Though Gomez reportedly prefers to keep things out of the public eye, Grande has spoken out about deciding to share less personal news with her fans, too. “Sharing special, personal life things that make u happy on the internet can be truly traumatic,” Grande said in response to a video Florence Pugh posted. “I know I’ve taken a step back from doing so to protect my loved ones and myself

Previously, Grande was engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson. They spilt up in October 2018, and Davidson is now rumoured to be dating British Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor.
