Amina Muaddi, maker of the modern day Cinderella slipper (if Cinderella liked late nights and negronis), has been working with long-time fan and queen of the party heel, Rihanna, on a limited edition footwear release – and we’re excited.

Today, the singer, CEO and Artistic Director of her own fashion label Fenty, announced the collaboration with the cult shoe designer, which launches next week on Fenty.com. “It’s been an immense pleasure developing this shoe drop for @fenty & @badgalriri! I hope you like it as much as we do! Available on July 15th at fenty.com,” wrote Muaddi on her Instagram page with a photo of the pair in the development stage (and seemingly having a very good time doing it).

Like the rest of the world, Rihanna has been a longtime fan of Muaddi’s glitzy party shoes, often seen prancing around in the diamanté-crusted, double-strapped Gilda Slippers or shiny perspex Sami Sandals, so the collaboration is not the least bit surprising, rather organic.

It’s also a commercial masterstroke. Ammuadi is arguably the hottest footwear label out there, not only pedaled by the It-elite but, according to Business of Fashion, everyone else, too. A 10-piece capsule collection for German retailer MyTheresa launched online at the end of March – a time when the world was in the throes of Covid-19 and lockdowns had confined countless countries to their home. And yet, the collection sold out within hours, even at the costly price tag of around $800 a shoe. So despite global lockdowns and retail on the decline, Amina Muaddi’s party heels have continued to sell out in a pandemic, proving the immense worth of the independent brand.

As for the what the Fenty collaboration will look like, we expect much of the same – but with a bad gal twist, of course. The crystals, the high-octane color, the signature Muaddi kick-heel  – the new collection will no doubt shine bright like a diamond.
