In another compelling case of fashion for good, the sustainable fashion brand Reclaim Mallorca has decided to take a stand with Iranian demonstrators who have been beaten, killed, and arrested for the past six months during the anti-hijab protest that followed the suspicious death of a 22-year-old Mahsa Amini.

The sustainable fashion brand launched a limited-edition collection of pouches that celebrates Iran’s cultural history and supports the efforts of the female-led revolution. “I created this collection because I want to bring the focus back to the incredible quality and beauty of Iran’s textile heritage, to remind people that Iran has so much more to offer than what we read about in the Western media,” said the brand’s founder Sarah Rennison Gwynne-Harris.

Gwynne-Harris worked with an Iranian mother-daughter duo living in Mallorca, Tanya and Sherazade Benet, to create the collection of pouches. Over 40 of their family’s antique textiles were used to create this collection, using Reclaim Mallorca’s upcycling technique. You’ll find the name of a woman who lost her life while protesting embroidered into the inside of each bag from the heartfelt collection.

“As a female founder of Reclaim with an all-women team, I have first-hand experience of the power of women, when they have space to thrive.”

All of the profits from the collection will go to the Norooz Foundation, which is a non-profit charity organization that has supported the human rights movement in Iran; bringing direct relief to the communities and places that need it the most. For Gwynne-Harris, it’s important that the funds go to supporting such a cause. “To not step up and stand with the Iranians in taking back their country and stopping the systematic destruction of its cultural heritage, would be a huge loss to humanity,” she shared, “and I want to make people think about that.”
