With old leases expiring and new leases paid for and scheduled in advance, UAE residents are questioning whether moving homes during this uncertain period is an option.

The Dubai Police stated that it is a possibility for residents to shift homes so long as they abide by the health and safety rules and regulations. Bear in mind, both the moving company and the residents must apply for all necessary permits to leave their homes and proceed with the shift.

If you’re struggling to afford your rent due to the economic crunch caused by COVD-19, you’ll be relieved to know that evictions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are on hold for the time being. All eviction judgements related to residential and commercial facilities in Dubai during March 2020 and April 2020 have been temporarily suspended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council. “The generous gesture reflects the leadership’s humanitarian considerations at a time when people are facing challenges,” Dubai Media Office shared in a statement.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department had also been ordered by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to temporarily suspend all the eviction cases during the global crisis.
