The latest Netflix series, Wednesday has taken the internet by storm, and rightfully so. From a captivating story-line, eerie cinematography to even more impressive costumes, the show encapsulates goth chic, punk and dark academia simultaneously. Wednesday’s style encompasses minimal tones, mainly black in various shades, fabrics and silhouettes. A lot of dresses and renditions of the ‘little black dress,’ along with the white collar peeking through (an emblem of Wednesday’s character through out the years) paired with the occasional checkered sweater or cardigan to introduce contemporary trends whilst still remaining true to her aesthetic. Towards the end of the season we see Wednesday adorned in a maxi black ruffled dress to prom, which she allegedly ‘thrifted’ in the show, turns out it’s not just a great thrift find but an Alaïa, which the Oscar-winning costume designer found strolling around in London. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Colleen Atwood expressed “It’s an Alaïa I found on a mannequin on Bond Street in London… It has these sheer layers that have so much life, so it doesn’t just hang there like a chiffon dress. It moves really beautifully,” while not everybody is lucky enough to go to their prom in a luscious Alaïa, we can all vicariously live through her. Keep scrolling for a roundup of her best fashion moments and how to recreate them. If you’re not a fan of all black clothes, now is the time to divulge into it and explore a different look and if you are, you’re welcome.
