This devotion to doing whatever she feels best serves her profession as a whole was put to the test in Paris this week after the 49-year-old broke her foot days before her upcoming Fall/Winter 2024 show.
As anyone involved in the production of a fashion show can attest to, the preceding days are crucial in finalising looks, perfecting styling, executing run-throughs and ensuring a seamless rollout of your new season offering. Yet proving nothing will come between her and the trade she’s worked so diligently to assimilate into, Beckham has stepped out—or perhaps more accurately, limped out—with a brave face and resolute commitment to her signature footwear choice.
Indeed, despite injuring her left foot in a gym accident, Beckham has still opted for trademark high heels. Though, just a singular heel, in this instance. Aided by crutches, the former pop star took to the City of Light’s cobbled streets in Alaïa’s pointed-toe kitten heel slingbacks. The Cœur 55 style featured a heart-shaped cap and acrylic lining, proving her love of the craft once and for all.
On her fractured foot, Beckham sported a rather uncharacteristic, albeit essential, ankle brace to keep her bones in the optimal position for healing. Beckham’s workwear street style is one thing we here at Team GRAZIA stay on high alert for, but nothing could’ve expected us for this combination of French couture and medical gear.
The only question now is how the former Spice Girl plans to take her bow after her collection presentation. Will she be joined by her husband, David Beckham, as he stabilises her on the runway? Will she just poke her head out in an iconic homage to the former soccer player’s memed confessional interruption in the recent Beckham docuseries? In soft launching her new persona as ‘Injured Spice’, will the boot possibly make its runway debut?
We will have to wait and see, but given Beckham’s ability to turn viral moments into commercial successes (see: her recent Uber Eats ad and the sold-out “My Dad Had A Rolls Royce” slogan shirt), we wouldn’t doubt a line of VB branded health devices to be in the works.
