Following a year of cancellations and virtual fashion shows, designers are now pulling all the stops when it comes to their latest collections, making Maison Valentino’s newest Couture show one for the books.

The luxury fashion brand hosted its spectacular fall 2021 Couture collection at the Gaggiandre at the Arsenale in Venice. Its latest collection, Valentino Des Ateliers, was inspired by the city of Venice and was filled with bold colours, monochromatic looks and the chicest ostrich headpieces.

There was a heavy focus on materials, from rich satins to puffball micro-minis and tremendous ostrich detailing – continued throughout the collection. We spotted voluminous gowns, heavy layering, elegant detailing and a wide array of dramatic hues. For shoes, Piccioli opted for a clear strappy heel with a barely-there look. Each piece was a love letter to the city of Venice and the art of fashion, allowing Piccioli’s artistic vision to portray through each garment.

It’s no surprise that Piccioli picked Venice to showcase his latest Haute Couture offering on behalf of Maison Valentino. The designer has a never-ending love for the city and finds inspiration in every corner, just like the culture of Haute Couture. The collection represented an uplifting and optimistic approach to the cultural comeback, as the world is coming back to life.
