Paris Fashion Week opened on a high note this season with excellent casting and designs at Weinsanto’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show, where the Tunisian curvy model Ameni Esseibi made a noteworthy appearance on the catwalk. Not only is Esseibi the first curvy model from the Middle East, but she was also appointed as the first plus-sized ambassador for the Arab Fashion Council (a non-profit organisation uplifting the fashion industry in the MENA) in March of this year. Now, the model is breaking ground at Paris Fashion Week at Weinsanto’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show, marking the first time Esseibi walked for a designer in the city. In an Instagram post, she noted that this milestone in her career is a “dream come true” and thanked the Arab Fashion Council and Weinsanto for helping her see it through, adding, “this is just the beginning.”

The Parisian brand, Weinsanto, is the namesake label of the fashion designer Victor Weinsanto, who has close ties to the Arab Fashion Council. Outside of hiring the organisation’s plus-size ambassador, Ameni Esseibi, to walk in his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week, the designer has also showcased his collections during the Arab Fashion Council’s Arab Fashion Week event, season after season. The designer will be maintaining his presence at Arab Fashion Week this autumn, with his 5th consecutive season at the event coming up on October 11th, 2022.

Will Ameni Esseibi be walking in Weinsanto’s show at Arab Fashion Week? We certainly hope so. The curve model has made her mark on the fashion industry as a body positivity advocate working within The Arab Fashion Council. In an Instagram post regarding her inauguration to the role, the model shared that her duty “will be to make sure that every Fashion week happening in the Middle East includes diversity.” Her presence on the runway is warmly welcomed by anyone looking to create a more inclusive fashion industry.
