Places everyone, it’s finally time for the big show! The 2021 Arab Fashion Week has officially arrived, and we couldn’t be more ready for an epic season of all-around glam.

To kick start the week, Arab Fashion Council hosted The Fashion Icon awards on Sunday, Oct 24th. The first Fashion Icon Award was given to Lebanese superstar Maya Diab who was named the Fashion Icon in October 2020 during last year’s digital ceremony – which was due for apparent reasons. But for this year’s annual pink, red carpet gala, our favourite celebrities stopped at nothing to strut some seriously jaw-dropping beauty moments for this year’s in-person Fashion Icon Award celebration.

The opening ceremony was strictly invite-only, with no tickets being sold to the public. But, thankfully, in the age of social media, if you keep up with fashion insiders on Instagram, there’s a good chance you’ve already received a front-row ticket to witness all the glitz and glamour of the night live from the comfort of your home.

On Sunday evening, Maya Diab handed the Fashion Icon Award trophy to Kim Culmone, Head of Global Design for Barbie. The Arab Fashion Council sought to recognize Barbie as the most diverse fashion doll in the world. Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, showcased the brand’s Barbie-inspired archive collection (very on-theme), which was inspired by all things colour, fun and optimism.

Every year the Fashion Icon is voted by a panel of over 500 industry members that vote anonymously through a period of 10 months each year. The recipient receives an iconic FIA trophy, representing a female figure with the wings triumphally spread overhead, designed by Jacob Abrian, AFC’s founder and CEO, crafted in Lebanon with over 100 hours of labour.

From a live opera performance by 13-year-old Jordanian-American opera singer Emanne Beasha to Jeremy Scott stepping out in the dreamiest blush pink tuxedo and so much more, keep scrolling to find the most showstopping beauty looks to inspire all your hair, makeup and wardrobe aspirations for your next outing.
