We rarely get intel into what the illustrious A-listers discuss during the commercial breaks between the ceremonial proceedings. Yet, one eagle-eyed cameraperson caught wind of hushed whispers between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, promptly filming the interaction for our entertainment (and deciphering).
Gomez, who was nominated for ‘Best Actress’ in a television series for her performance in Only Murders In The Building, was captured indulging Swift, who was up for a “cinematic and box office achievement” award thanks to the success of her Eras Tour concert film, in some hot of the press news.
It appeared like Gomez was filling Swift and her plus one, Miles Teller’s wife Keleigh Sperry, in on a drama-laden interaction that just occurred. No audio was recorded with the clip, but Swift and Sperry’s reactions said it all: tea was spilt.

Netizens were quick to assume what was being discussed. The leading theory was that Kylie Jenner forbade Gomez from taking a selfie with Timothée Chalamet. (Gomez and Chalamet appeared in the 2019 film A Rainy Day in New York).
Sperry appeared to say “Timothée?!” in response to what Gomez whispered in Swift’s ear, with the former Disney star nodding knowingly. It was arguably the biggest pop culture moment from the evening—and one that mightn’t have happened without a nifty piece of camerawork.
But did Gomez and Swift talk about Chalamet and Jenner? Lip readers say yes, but sources close to Gomez say no.
In a new report from People, an insider vehemently denied that Gomez ever discussed her former co-star and his new beau. “She was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie,” the source said, debunking rampant speculation.
The source added that the multi-hyphenate, who recently made her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco public, “never even saw or spoke to them”. So, what was discussed then?
Sadly, that information is only privy to those in earshot. But what is a Hollywood event without a little theatrics? Who knows, perhaps this scene will receive a much-deserved Emmy nomination for “Best Reality” moment on television.
