Emma Stone is officially a second-time Golden Globe winner, taking out the ‘Best Actress’ award for her role in Poor Things at the 81st annual awards ceremony.

The sci-fi rom-com, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite), follows a woman brought back to life who runs away with a man to discover what the new world holds in store. But it hasn’t only been recognised for its stellar performances by Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef and Willem Dafoe. Led by costume designer Holly Waddington, the whimsical fashion of the film is award-winning in and of itself. Stone’s character, Bella Baxter, boats the ultimate fantasy Victorian-era wardrobe, filled with voluminous dresses that bubble up around her shoulders and layers of ruffles and taffeta.

But for Stone’s winning moment, she opted for something a little more modern.

Wearing custom Louis Vuitton, the actress looked radiant in an almost-sheer slip gown with a plunging neck and centre split. Whether intentional or not, the dress was adorned with embroidered roses that perfectly matched the red carpet’s floral backdrop.

But as fans were quick to notice, the dress bore an aesthetic resemblance to the Valentino look she wore back in 2017 when she took home the same award for her role in La La Land. Only, for her first win, her pale pink gown was laden with stars instead of flowers.

Accessories for the 2024 look were kept to a minimum, with nude strappy stilettos and diamond drop earrings.

Keeping things simple on the beauty side—as not to override the dress—the 35-year-old donned bright and luminous makeup, with bold lashes and a rosy pink hue on her lips. Her mid-length hair was parted to the side and ever-so-slightly flicked out.

The actress, who recently gave birth to a baby girl with her husband, Dave McCary, previously won a Golden Globe for La La Land in 2017.
