Post-securing the bid for 2030’s EXPO, Saudi Arabia continues to press foot to pedal with their newest announcement. Adding yet another win to its long list, the Kingdom is officially joining the Miss Universe realm in 2024.

While its predecessor was held in El Salvador, this year’s edition will be in Mexico and representing Saudi Arabia for its first time is widely-adored, and heavily decorated, Rumy AlQahtani.

With over one million Instagram followers, the Saudi beauty has built a name within the world of pageantry for some time now. From Miss Arab Peace to Miss Woman SA, her undeniable charm and beauty have been long recognised.

Posting to her Instagram with an Arabic caption, she wrote, “Honoured to participate in Miss Universe 2024.” Noting the groundbreaking first for her nation, she holds the emerald green flag high in the accompanying image. Wearing a strapless bedazzled evening gown and a shimmering crown, the ‘Miss Universe Saudi Arabia’ satchel sits proud on her chest.

Last year three Arab countries are represented on the famed platform, show assign the regions unyielding talents. Most notably from the GCC, Miss Universe Bahrain was the pioneering Lujane Yacoub, who continues to open doors across sectors.

With three differing categories, pageants are put through rigorous long preparations and rehearsal ahead of the big day. From evening gown to personality interview, each country’s representative are quizzed on anything from political tensions to confidence hacks.

Though this may be a first for Saudi Arabia, Rumy’s footprint in the pageantry worlds as representation for the Kingdom has been deep and long. A cultural pioneer of sorts, the 27 year-old Riyadh-born beauty queen takes great pride in awareness raising.
