After getting caught in the whirlwind of rumours since February this year, Dua Lipa and her new beau Romain Gavras made their official red carpet debut for the screening of Omar La Fraise (The King Of Algiers) at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Wearing a silky black Celine thigh-slit gown designed by Hedi Slimane, Dua opted for sultry make-up and Roman matched it with a classic black suit. Although the couple was giving an alluring aura with their looks, the red carpet was all smiles and packed with PDA, This is Dua’s first public romance since her break up with Anwar Hadid. Romain Gavras is a French director born in France to film producer Michèle Ray-Gavras and Oscar-winning Greek-French director Costa Gavras. His birthday falls on July 4th 1981 making him 14 years older than Dua. According to the Guardian, his siblings Julie and Alexandre work in the entertainment industry as well. In an interview with CNN and The Guardian, Romain mentioned that he has a teenage daughter but no further information was given.
In 2020, British pop star Rita Ora was previously linked with the French director. The couple called it quits after a few months due to work commitments. Rita is now married to New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi.
Following his father’s footsteps, Romain began his career in 2007 directing films and music videos. Romaine’s debut film, Our Day Will Come, released in 2010 stars Vincent Cassel as a psychiatrist named Patrick who counsels Rémy, played by Olivier Barthélémy, a teenager bullied for his red hair. His recent release, Athena captivated viewers and made waves at the esteemed Venice Film Festival held the previous year. It earned him a Golden Lion Award which is the Oscar equivalent at the film festival. Overall, he has three feature films under his belt so far.

After getting photographed together at Paris Fashion Week earlier, sources told The Sun that the couple have been “quietly getting to know each other for months.” Dua has officially shared their couple photos from the red-carpet captioning, “Last night in Cannes with my sweetheart,” on her social media. This would only mean that the getting-to-know-each-other phase is finally over and they are officially launching their romance publicly.
