It’s been a busy week for Dua Lipa, who has reportedly co-designed the Versace High Summer “La Vacanza” women’s collection alongside Donatella Versace. This news broke mere days after the popstar co-hosted the 2023 Met Gala “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in New York.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have co-designed the women’s ‘La Vacanza’ collection for Versace with Donatella,” Dua Lipa said in an official statement from the brand. “She and I have formed such a strong bond over the years, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from her and the whole team since the very beginning of my career.”

Lipa’s pop anthems went viral on TikTok in 2020, earning her the nickname “Disco Queen of Quarantine” at the time. When life resumed, Donatella cast Lipa in her first catwalk, where she opened and closed the Versace Spring/Summer 2022 show in Milan.

“You know I’ll be your Versace girl forever,” the pop star declared in an Instagram post after the show, and has made good on that promise. Since then, Lipa has spearheaded campaigns, facilitated viral Versace moments (recall, the onstage skit with Megan Thee Stallion at the 2022 Grammy Awards), and has now been entrusted with the honour of co-designing a Versace women’s collection.

“I have always been inspired by a collaborative design process,” Donatella stated, adding “Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us. Dua is strong, fearless, and free and her creative vision is exceptional. Summer is a magical time. We will capture this feeling and the colours of that time of the year with a truly special and intimate fashion show in Cannes.”
