Surpassing a death toll of 30,000 human beings, the Palestinian devastation in continues to unfold in Gaza. Unyieldingly committed to lending her voice to important matters, Queen Rania of Jordan has officially called for a ceasefire.

Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar, which marked its first edition in the Middle East, the Jordanian royal made a powerful and insightful speech about the utilisation of technology in storytelling whereby there has been a long pattern of overlooking and undervaluing the Palestinian story.

“For too long, Palestinians have been dehumanized and discredited,” she declared. Living under catastrophic circumstances, she elaborated on how the continuing destruction the people of Gaza face should have ceased long ago.

Queen Rania Calls For Ceasefire In Palestine

“We need a ceasefire,” she firmly stated. “A cease to the destruction… A cease to the displacement… A cease to the deprivation by design.”

Moving in her delivery, Queen Rania took to the stage to not only speak on the current catastrophe taking place in Gaza, but also to outline the needed steps to remedy it and bring its two million citizens to safety.

“The people of Gaza have never been more connected – yet never more isolated,” she said. “Cut off from food, water, medicine, fuel, and everything required to sustain human life, they have continued to reach for their phones… to reach for us.”

“There is nothing more powerful than an informed, indignant global community, calling for an end to a great injustice,” she added.

Calling for “peace, dignity, and freedom” to be restored to the Palestinian people, Queen Rania didn’t only call for a ceasefire in Gaza, but she called on the larger international community to mobilise their voices.
