“Maybe it’s not actually her,” jokes my housemate as I furiously Google search “Lady Gaga“. I had just finished writing about the House of Gucci star after she appeared at the 2022 BAFTAs overnight in a green Ralph Lauren gown when I came across her simultaneous appearance at the Critics Choice Awards which was rescheduled from an earlier date in February.

For Australian viewers, the BAFTAs occurred on March 14 at 6am AEDT. The star-studded Critics Choice Awards was airing from 10am AEDT on the same day. The flight from London to Los Angeles where the latter was being held is about 10 hours. Riddle me this: how did she appear at both? Well, I soon found out (sheepishly) that the CCAs held a small London event for stars who were nominated at the two glamorous soirées.

Nevertheless, the wardrobe change was quick and after her forest green moment, she attended the Critics Choice red carpet in a black and gold cutout gown by Gucci. The ensemble was styled by Tom Erebout and Sandra Amador while her hair was transformed from sleek waves into an intricate up-do by Frederic Aspiras.

Gaga’s notoriously private boyfriend Michael Polansky was also in attendance.

The actress and musician was nominated in the Best Actress categories for both awards ceremonies. She’s yet to nab an award during the film season, however, Gaga has not failed to impress on the sartorial front. She also appeared at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last month in a jaw-dropping Giorgio Armani Privé gown. Despite being snubbed from the Academy Awards later this month, we really hope she attends – if only for the incredible gowns.

In promoting House of Gucci late last year, she spoke about her love of style. “My mother was my first fashion icon,” she told KUTV 2 News. “Just watching her get ready for work. I loved watching her. She only had like four blazers to go to work in, but man did she know how to wear this blazers. She would do her makeup with drugstore makeup.

The actress continued, “She really knew how to put herself together. She’s my beautiful Italian mother. That’s where I first started. My mother is a powerful woman. Strength and fashion kind of go hand in hand for me.”
