In case you were wondering, 2022 is officially Kirsten Dunst‘s year. After scoring her first (and entirely overdue) Oscar nod for her role in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, Dunst has been flexing her style prowess on the red carpet. And now she’s debuted a chic new hair look at Milan Fashion Week, where she claimed a coveted front-row spot at the Bottega Veneta show.

“We were so excited to debut Kirsten‘s shortest haircut in 17 years,” said Dunst’s hairstylist, Marcus Francis, in a press release, adding, “We decided to keep the look classic and cool to match her new chic length, creating some natural bends to frame her face.”

Francis revealed on Instagram that he had actually “chopped 6 inches off” Dunst’s long locks – which previously fell below shoulder length – and “cut the weight out of the ends to give the hair movement” before feathering out certain sections “to make sure the cut didn’t go too triangular”.

While Dunst has seemingly preferred a low-key beauty aesthetic in recent years – opting for long layers typically styled in loose waves – we’re really feeling this strikingly sharp new cut on her. Perhaps the star felt a change was in order, after she recently wed her longtime partner (and sometime costar) Jesse Plemons back in July.

Per Page Six, the pair recently wed in a private ceremony at the GoldenEye luxury resort near Ocho Rios in Jamaica after six years together. The couple, who already shared two children together, had to put their wedding plans on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic and after Dunst became pregnant with their second child.

While a rep for the stars confirmed the nuptials, they told the outlet, “I can just confirmed they got married. No other details will be given.”

Dunst had previously lamented the couple’s lack of planning when it came to tying the knot. “We have to get married at this point. It’s ridiculous. We just haven’t planned a wedding,” she said earlier this year. “I didn’t want to be pregnant, get married, have a party and not be able to have fun with everybody.”
