Amid all the flair frivolity of a film festival red carpet, nothing catches the eye more than a celebrity wearing a timeless ensemble. From press interviews to the red carpet, Kirsten Dunst was one such actress who appeared at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of The Power of the Dog.
On day two of the prestigious gala, Dunst appeared at a photo call and press conference in a classic black Giorgio Armani pant suit and colourful peep toe heels. She was seen standing alongside co-star Benedict Cumberbatch who donned a powder blue suit and white scoop neck t-shirt.
Later at the red carpet outside the Biennale Cinema she continued to pay homage to the Italian designer in a timeless black lace V-neck gown. The sheer bodice and skirt was emblazoned with layers of handcrafted flowers and beading. The look was styled by Nina & Clare, hair by Marcus Francis and the makeup created by Mary Wiles who described the look on social media as “lived in chic”.
“We wanted it to look like Kirsten had just come back from the pool and whipped her hair up, picked up a great liner and smudged it around her eyes , not to preciously just cool undone but chic to balance the amazing Armani dress,” the artist noted on Instagram.
It comes after Dunst was spotted arriving to Venice on the opening day in a Ferragamo skirt suit. The seventies-esque ensemble was layered with a bow buckle belt and square framed sunglasses by Garrett Leight California Optical.
The Power of the Dog marks the return of writer and director Jane Campion after 12 years. Set in early 20th-century Montana, the film follows Phil, a sadistic ranch owner who launches a campaign against a young widow when she unexpectedly marries his brother and comes to live on the ranch.
The modern Western film also features Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Thomasin McKenzie, Genevieve Lemon, Keith Carradine, and Frances Conroy.
The film will release into theatres and on Netflix from December 1.
