Eid Al Adha dates 2024

Many of us may have only just returned to work after an extended break for Eid-Al-Fitr, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, but that hasn’t stopped us thinking about the next public holiday.

For those of us in the UAE and the rest of the GCC, the next public holiday will be to mark Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.

Following alongside the Islamic Calendar, the public holiday is likely to fall in mid to late June.

When is Eid Al Adha 2024 in UAE?

Arafat Day is marked on Dhu Hijah 9 in the Islamic calendar and is celebrated as part of the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. It is followed by Eid Al Adha, or the ‘Festival of Sacrifice’, another important Islamic holiday that takes place from Dhu Hijah 10 to 12.

While the confirmed dates of the public holiday in line with the Gregorian calendar are determined by the sighting of the moon, the Emirates Astronomy Society has predicted that Eid Al Adha will fall between Monday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Including the weekend falling prior to the predicted Eid Al Adha holiday, this could the UAE welcomes a five-day break in mid to late June.

The short break would be perfect for a quick yet relaxing staycation or a trip to a nearby bucket list destination. And for those seeking an extended early summer break, by taking a few days of your allocated annual leave you could travel even further afield.

2024 PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN THE UAE

The next public holiday in the UAE after Eid Al Adha will be Islamic (Hijri) New Year.
