We love a cameo. Olivia Rodrigo and Lilly Allen? Love. Harry Styles and Lizzo? Still iconic.

As you may already know, the Backstreet Boys were pulled from retirement to embark on their DNA World Tour travelling the globe to finally perform their 2019 album as well as revisit some of their most beloved hits. At the weekend, fans were treated to an unexpected cameo in Toronto when Canadian native Drake walked on stage.

“At 13 years old, I had a bar mitzvah, and at my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with came up to me while one of the greatest songs in the world was playing, and she asked me if I would dance with her,” the rapper told the crowd. “It was the first time I ever felt acknowledged, and it was the first time I ever felt like, you know, I had a shot at being cool.”

In footage published to social media fans could be seen screaming and crying (a normal response if you ask us) as the rapper performed “I Want It That Way” with the ’90s boy band. Drake harmonised perfectly with members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, but mostly stood back and danced. I think he was as excited as us.

“When she says she’s over men in this generation and asks why I live alone…,” captioned his own Instagram post of the performance.

Drake recently catapulted to number one with his new album Honestly, Nevermind for the 11th time, becoming just one of five artists to have more than 10 albums to top the charts. Does this recent performance sound a potential Drake x Backstreet Boys collaboration? Perhaps an upcoming remix? We really, really hope so.
