Almost two years since the loss of their son Jack, Chrissy Teigen has announced that she is once again pregnant with John Legend. The model and television personality took to Instagram with a photo of her small bump, writing, “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.”
The news comes after Teigen commenced IVF treatment in February. “Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still,” she continued. “I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”
The famous couple share two children, Luna, 6, and Miles, 4. In October 2020 Teigen announced via social media that she had heartbreakingly suffered her third miscarriage. “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” she wrote on social media. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
The now 36-year-old was praised for candidly sharing her experience with her 38 million-plus followers. Unfortunately miscarriage is often not talked about so publicly. At the time one Twitter user wrote, “Women are trained not to talk about living in a female reproductive body. About periods, and cramps, and sex, and miscarriages, and birth control and abortion. And the feelings that go with it. God bless @chrissyteigen for not hiding her pain and demanding we all talk about it.”
