Is Anya Taylor-Joy married? According to a report from Page Six, The Queen’s Gambit star tied the knot with her boyfriend, Malcolm McRae, at an intimate courthouse wedding. The nuptials took place in the United States and were followed by a quick trip out of the country, so Taylor-Joy could finish filming her new movie, Furiosa, the prequel to MadMax: Fury Road.
Last month, the couple set forth a slew of suspicion when Taylor-Joy was spotted at an Australian airport with her boyfriend, wearing an emerald ring on that finger. A person who saw them together at the time told the Daily Mail, “she bounded off the plane and then seemed to flash the ring at her driver before getting in the car. She was either showing off the ring or doing a dance move. Either way, she looked ecstatic.” After Page Six broke the news of their marriage on Monday, July 18th we’re led to believe that the couple tied the knot. Close contacts of the couple have shared that they intend to have a bigger celebration once Taylor-Joy’s filming is complete.
Despite her fame, Taylor-Joy leads a pretty private life. In 2018, she told The Guardian, “there’s a beauty in being anonymous, there’s a reason why we’re actors…we’re playing other people, so I think the idea of someone being interested in me—I’m quite a private person—is a bit daunting but I try not to think about it..” She has protected her privacy throughout her climb to fame, allowing us insight into her relationship with the musician during the occasional Instagram post or interview.
Taylor-Joy confirmed that they were dating back in April 2021 when she called McRae her “partner” in an interview with Elle and by July 2021, The Sun reported that the two were “practically living together.” This March, Taylor-Joy told British Vogue that their long-distance relationship, “…is [difficult], but it’s also kind of great because when you’re together you’re really valuing the time that you have. Everyday mundane activities are so full of joy. I love going to the petrol station with him and filling up the car and going to get breakfast.”
The two seem to make each other incredibly happy, and we’re glad to see them create their future with one another.
