Exploring girlhood in the Arab world, the hit Netflix show AlRawabi School For Girls returns for season two. Created by the celebrated Tima Shomali, the popular series will continue to examine an unmarked territory within Arab cinema for its previous season, it delves into teenage girlhood yet again.

When it comes to the stories and struggles of young girls, the media has historically overlooked this narrative. Season one followed the chronicles of a teenage Mariam seeking revenge on her school tormentors by uniting the outcasts.

Never lingering on one character for long, Tima explores taboo, stigmatised and shunned topics through the ensemble cast. From sexual assault to cultural traditions, academic corruption and beyond, she catapults heavy conversations for young girls to explore.

Season two explores new challenges and emotions, as the girls reap the consequences of seeking vengeance in the previous finale. With some incoming students to thicken the plot, Tima keeps the show’s signature sweet teenage angst. But adds some new lessons and rules for the all-new cast to explore this season. With no official launch date yet, Netflix MENA dropped a juicy first look, with some eyebrow-raising snippets, as a taster of the drama that unfolds this school year.
