Whether you binge or savour, these series come with a range of themes, lengths and characters.

From mystical high school tales to real life period-dramas, here are six of the best Arab shows on Netflix right now.

The Exchange

Following the first two women to infiltrate the Kuwaiti stock market in 1987, this Arab Netflix series unpacks a triumphant yet intense real story. While the finance industry is still male-dominated, this show unveils the Arab country’s trading sectors corrupt toxicity. Released in 2023, this 10 episode long period office-drama stars Rawan Mahdi and Mona Hussain.

Crashing Eid

Comedic yet brazen, this Saudi-based show unpacks themes of suitability ethnicity and the tumultuous journey of conquering love. The divorced Razan brings her British-Pakistani fiancé to Saudi, in hopes of introducing him to her family. Taking place over the celebratory occasion of Eid, we see her navigate the trials and tribulation of getting her family approval for the looming nuptials. Heartfelt yet hilarious, this show is only four episodes deep but still manages to thoroughly explore where tradition and romance intersect.

Jinn

Released in 2019, Jinn tells a supernatural story of two spirits – one evil and one kind – that cause a ruck on a school trip to Petra. Set in Amman, Jordan this coming of age Netflix series blends spiritual motifs with high school drama. Ominous and suspenseful this teenage drama show is only five episodes long and follows a group of friends with Salma Malhas as Mira taking the lead.

Finding Ola
