As the world marks International Women’s Day, Cartier has unveiled the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, in collaboration with the Japanese government and Expo organisers. This inspiring space continues the legacy of the Women’s Pavilion from Expo 2020 Dubai, celebrating the pivotal role of women in shaping a more equitable future.
At Expo 2020 Dubai, the Women’s Pavilion stood as a beacon of gender equality, spotlighting women’s contributions across cultures, industries, and generations. It was the first pavilion at a World Expo dedicated solely to women’s empowerment in over a century, hosting thought-provoking discussions, immersive storytelling, and art installations. Now, its evolution at Expo 2025 promises to be even more transformative.

With the theme “Living Together, Designing Together, For the Future,” the Women’s Pavilion in Osaka will delve beyond gender equality, exploring humanity’s interconnectedness and our responsibility to the planet.
Architect Yuko Nagayama’s design reimagines the Pavilion’s signature Kumiko-inspired façade, originally introduced in Dubai, symbolizing a harmonious bridge between past and future. Sustainability remains a core focus, with locally sourced trees returning to Osaka’s forests post-Expo, reinforcing a commitment to regeneration.

Inside, an immersive journey curated by Es Devlin will guide visitors through personal narratives that highlight the universal struggle for gender equality. Contributions from artists like Naomi Kawase, Mélanie Laurent, and Mariko Mori will bring this vision to life through film, sculpture, and interactive experiences. The WA space, an agora of ideas, will host conversations on business, education, technology, and the arts, driving actionable change.
With a legacy rooted in fostering dialogue and innovation, Cartier’s Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 invites visitors to reflect, engage, and contribute to a future where all individuals can thrive. The Pavilion serves as both a celebration and a call to action – because when women thrive, everyone thrives.
