Whether we are escaping the mundanity of our post-restricted lives or the messiness of our social media feeds, a woman’s night time routine has become a much-needed tool to disconnect and relax. In a new series “How I Wind Down…”, we speak to lot of different women about how they prepare for a restful evening.

The resumé of Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson is certainly impressive. Rising to fame in the 1980s, the Australian supermodel has appeared on the cover of just about every magazine and has earned acting credits in the likes of Friends and The Edge. Nowadays, she sits at the helm of her hugely successful cult wellness brand, WelleCo.

The ingestible beauty brand was launched in 2014 in a bid to provide consumers with targeted beauty support and holistic health. Following on from hallmark products like the Daily Greens Super Elixir powder formulation and the Collagen Elixir, WelleCo launched two new products this year: the PMS Elixir and the Goddess Elixir.

The supermodel and beauty mogul has become known for supporting the wellbeing of men and women around the world. Now for a special edition of How I Wind Down, we’ve tapped the founder for insight into her own wellness routine.

Grazia: Can you describe your night-time beauty routine?

“My evening beauty routine is a wellness routine. It consists of an infrared sauna (Therasage offers a fabulous portable option) followed by a cold plunge in my plunge bath. It’s great for detox, immune boost, lymph support and relaxation. I follow that with my nightly ritual of a cup of Sleep Welle Calming Tea which helps the mind, emotions and body to rest, recover and rejuvenate. Usually, I’ll do some breath work and always write a gratitude list just before I sleep.”

How do you wind down after a busy day?

“I love what I do. My days are full of wonderful and interesting experiences and opportunities. Often, I work late into the night with my team at WelleCo who are on the other side of the world. I love connecting with them and brainstorming everything from marketing, new product development, customer service and finances. A real treat for me is when the boys are visiting home in Miami (they are both off on their own adventures now). We love having dinner together and catching up. And most important of all, love and laughter.”

How do you decorate your space to assist in falling asleep?

“I don’t waste time decorating my space for sleep. I like to keep it really simple, and definitely no TV in the bedroom! I wear blue blocker glasses (my favourites are Tom Ford) to protect my eyes from exposure to blue light and I use my devices minimally. I love to read. One of my current favourites is The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer.”

What time do you go to sleep?

“It can be tricky having an international business (Australia is waking up in my evening), but I try and go to bed around 11pm and wake up around 5am.”

Do you plan the next day’s look the night before or in the morning? If so, what’s your go-to look for an easy morning the next day?

“I tend to go with the flow. When I wake-up, the first thing I do is meditate, read something inspiring and hydrate. I hydrate with water and lime which I put beside my bed the night before. I then get out of bed and start my day. At the moment, I intermittent fast, so my last meal is usual around 7pm and my first meal is around 11am. I break my fast with something easy like a home-made chia pudding or a protein and greens smoothie from WelleCo. I then take The Hair Elixir and The Goddess Elixir capsules. In terms of fashion, I don’t plan anything the night before. I live in jeans and t-shirts – blue, white, skinny, baggy, boyfriend, you name it! My favourite designers are Dior and Isabel Marant.”
