In a feat a fair few Australian designers have achieved, Sydney-based golden child Christopher Esber has cemented his reputation as the purveyor of sensual occasion wear to the celebrity style set with an oasis-inspired and masterfully-subjected spin on a classic silk slip.

Indeed, Esber’s designs are like catnip for cool girls, with nearly everyone in Hollywood besotted with his slinky and confidence-exuding creations. Last season, Esber’s black cutout dresses reigned supreme, with the designer’s slashed and slit maxis the silhouette du jour.

Now, as Kylie Jenner and Dua Lipa have both proven, this summer will be saturated by this green asymmetrical mini—if you can get your hands on one, that is.

The Galathea Asymmetric Micro Dress, a lace-trimmed draped thigh-grazing dress, is poised to be the latest in a long line of Esber ‘It’ numbers, making us question if this piece, will have us re-enter the Esber era, if we ever left it, that is.

The dress first appeared on our radar after the pop songstress sported the skin-clad number in Greece as part of back-to-back Esber brace. Taking to Instagram, Lipa paired the aptly Halkidiki olive green hued dress with Loewe’s nail polish strappy sandals, offsetting the whitewashed limestone houses of her locale.

Less than a week later, the Kylie Cosmetics founder embraced the merits of the Esbers’ voluptuary design vocabulary by putting a more sultry spin on the look.

Utilising the asymmetric back detailing, Jenner embraced the lopsidedness of the dress by twisting the strap off her shoulder. With the dress featuring a ruched bodice, softly draped wrap-skirt, cascading sash and black lace trim, the ruched micro is the ultimate subversive mini silhouette that will have you emulating the balmy temperature.

The piece unveiled earlier this year as part of Esber’s Pre-Fall 2023 launch, a collection that conjured a tropical grunge sensation evoked in the tropical overgrowth of Australia’s lush rainforests.

Yet, as Lipa and Jenner have highlighted, a perfect (and now sold-out) Christopher Esber piece for any location.
