On and off duty, Emily Ratajkowski has continually delivered a masterclass in elegant sensual dressing.
From her signature mini dress and cowboy boots combination sported on the streets of Manhattan to an array of barely-there displays on the red carpet, the supermodel has perfected the refined risqué silhouette.
Now, she’s applying this mode to 2020’s most enduring aesthetic: Cottagecore.
Unlike how Kylie Jenner eschewed her maximalist and Y2K-infused wardrobe for a modest floral prairie dress from DÔEN, the My Body author has delivered a sensual spin on the bucolic style.
Fitting for her vacation in France, Ratajkowski has donned an 1890s-meets-1990s gingham two-piece set for a visit to a Lavender field.
The ensemble is arguably more provincial sleaze than cottagecore thanks to the skin-clad shape, but with temperatures soaring into the late 30s, a slinky rustic look is the perfect way to combat the heat.
For the occasion, Ratajkowski opted for the recently-launched prairie top and picket short from cult-favourite New York-based label Orseund Iris.
Intrinsically romantic, the top boasts peasant sleeves and a square ruffled neckline along with a string of buttons that punctuates the midsection of the garment.
The bottom half of the ensemble is the millennial favourite skort, with a sheath of pocket-adorned black-and-white check fabric wrapped over breezy shorts like an apron.
Indeed, the perfect vintage touch is needed to compliment the mountainous beauty of the French countryside.
Ratajkowski’s holiday follows on from her slew of “business meetings” in Paris, including sitting canal-side at Jacquemus’ Fall 2023 collection presentation hosted at the Palace of Versailles and attending Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2024 men’s show.
For the latter, the 32-year-old went completely naked under her leather trench coat; a cardinal rule for anyone choosing to wear a winter staple in the depths of summer.
But as Ratajkowski’s cottagecore look has demonstrated, there’s no better way to dress for your holiday than sartorially referencing your surroundings.
