Yara Shahidi is prepping for Thanksgiving dinner (and dessert) in the best way possible: by putting on a chic outfit and putting on a mini-performance for her five million Instagram followers. On Monday, November 24, the Grown-ish actress posted a reel wearing one of the most prominent fashion trends of fall 2020: a statement blazer.
Shahidi styled her pink satin blazer in one of the most popular ways we’re seeing on the streets and our favorite celebs. Fashion lovers are teaming their sophisticated, investment blazers with otherwise super-casual outfits usually comprising a T-shirt and jeans or trousers. Kaia Gerber, Olivia Palermo, and Emily Ratajkowski are all fans of the outfit, which is versatile enough to be dressed up with heels and lipstick or down with a messy bun and sneakers.
It’s no major surprise that we’re seeing this look everywhere because reimagined blazers dominated the Fall-Winter 2020-2021 runways. From cropped silhouettes to intricately embroidered pieces, one thing’s for sure: there’s no wrong way to wear a blazer right now. Labels like Sacai, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, and just about every designer showed off at least one polished blazer.
But back to Shahidi. The actress paired her satin blazer with a flow-y white crew neck shirt, which she wore untucked with a pair of blue jeans. She accessorized with gold bracelets and dangly earrings to sing and dance along to the 1999 hit “Maria Maria.” In the accompanying caption, the Minnesota native wrote, “Songs that make me happy cont’d.”
