Virgil Abloh Brooklyn Museum Exhibition
Tribute to Virgil Abloh on during The Fashion Awards 2021

The Brooklyn Museum is known for hosting its fair share of coveted fashion exhibitions, including “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” and “Pierre Cardin: Future Fashion.” Now, following a successful debut orchestrated by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago in 2019, the Brooklyn Museum will showcase “Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech” as a tribute to the late fashion visionary.

Much like the Chicago iteration, the tribute exhibition will spotlight Abloh’s work through his menswear collections for Louis Vuitton, his designs for his streetwear label Off-White, and numerous collaborations with Nike and Supreme. Although additional details aren’t confirmed, we can only assume the exhibition will include pieces from Abloh’s last Louis Vuitton menswear collection that debuted on the runway in Paris last month.

The exhibition will be the first survey of the late visionary artist and designer months after his untimely passing, giving the retrospective a different emotional layer. Abloh died in November at the age of 41 after a private battle with a rare form of cancer called cardiac angiosarcoma.

The “Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech” exhibition curated by Michael Darling and Antwaun Sargent will be on display for the public to view from July 1, 2022 to Jan 29, 2023.
