Victor Glemaud

Since founding his eponymous label in 2006, Victor Glemaud has captivated the fashion industry with his statement-making joyful knits. Fresh off of his first eyewear collection launch, the Haitian-American designer is bringing his uplifting aesthetic into a new market with a special home collection, in collaboration with family-owned New York design house Schumacher

The collection titled Cul-De-Sac by Victor Glemaud explores the designer’s clean-cut aesthetic while highlighting his Caribbean heritage. The capsule features fabrics, wall coverings, and trims in 14 different patterns and various colorways, all named after women close to him. Minimalists will fall for the collection’s standout Toussaint Toile, which pays homage to Toussaint Louverture, the leader of Haiti during the revolution in the late 18th and early 19th-century.

Further nodding at the designer’s heritage, the print features the Hispaniolan Trogon, Haiti’s national bird, the national flower, hibiscus, and the country’s lush foliage. “We haven’t rewritten home or anything like that, but what we’ve done is take traditional motifs, added amazing texture, and it feels original. And I think that’s the difference and why people are reacting to it so enthusiastically,” Glemaud told WWD. “From the color mixing to the pattern to the cut velvet, it can be really classic, but it could also be urban, it could be traditional, it could work for the country.”
