Congratulations are in order for Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker! According to multiple news outlets, the actress is engaged to the MLB player. The star has yet to confirm the news herself, but TMZ first reported that the pair got engaged at the end of 2022.
The couple often post cute Instagrams with one another, and just last week, Hudgens shared a photo smiling up at Tucker, 26, with the caption, “I’ll stop the world and melt with you ❤️🥰 @cotuck.”
The two have been linked since late 2020 after they met in a very “meet-cute” kind of way amid the COVID-19 pandemic, in a group Zoom meditation call. Hudgens, 34, opened up about how it all went down during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show.
“I still cannot get over the fact that it happened, because I remember in quarantine I was like, ‘Cool, so I’m single now and I can’t meet anybody.'” Hudgens got on a dating app, which she “hated” and she “kind of just gave up [on dating] for a minute.”
Thankfully, a friend invited her to a weekly Zoom meditation group, which included the Colorado Rockies shortstop. “I get on the Zoom, and I’m like, ‘Who is that?’ I found him, and we started talking.”
She told Barrymore that she was the one to make the first move. “I’m such a go-getter, if I want something or someone, I’m going after them. I fully just slid into his DMs and was like, ‘Hey, it was nice to meet you.’ So I think there is no shame in making the first move.”
Hudgens previously dated ELVIS star Austin Butler for over eight years before splitting in January 2020. Their relationship has made headlines recently after Butler credited his ex-girlfriend for encouraging him to take his Golden Globe-winning role as the King of rock ‘n’ roll.
“We’d been together for so long and she had this sort of clairvoyant moment and so I really, I owe her a lot for believing in me,” he said of Hudgens in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
Since their split, Butler has been dating model Kaia Gerber.
In December, Hudgens reflected on the past year with a carousel post on Instagram saying she “couldn’t be more grateful for the past year.” She reflected on professional accomplishments and ended by writing she “feel[s] the most loved. Cheers to 22’ and big things for 23’ 🥂”
