Ahead of Miley Cyrus’s 2021 Super Bowl TikTok Tailgate performance on Sunday, February 7, at 2:30 p.m. EST, the hitmaker shared a sneak peek of what appears to be one of the costumes she intends to wear on stage—or at least, a piece of it. As shared on Wednesday, February 3, the barely-there ensemble uniquely combines bikini bottoms, a cheerleading crop top with “FTW” (for the win) written across the chest, and heeled boots.
While the singer hasn’t officially disclosed if it’s her performance ensemble, she implied it in the photo’s accompanying caption. “MILEY: FOR THE WIN!” she wrote, adding event details. To watch the first ever TikTok Tailgate, being held in Tampa, Florida, fans can tune in via the @NFL’s page on the TikTok app. If you’re too busy making snacks for the game, a portion of her performance will also air during the CBS Super Bowl LV Pregame Show.
Similar to Times Square’s restrictions this past New Year’s Eve, the TikTok Tailgate is exclusive to invited health care workers. The NFL invited 7,500 vaccinated frontline workers to the pregame event, supplying them with free tickets to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers championship game, as well. In a statement, NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, said:
“These dedicated health care workers continue to put their own lives at risk to serve others, and we owe them our ongoing gratitude. We hope in a small way that this initiative will inspire our country and recognize these true American heroes.”
Cyrus, who’s headlining the event, announced her involvement on January 24. “I’ll be there for TIKTOK TAILGATE!!!” she wrote in her initial announcement post. “I can’t wait to put on a show for the NFL’s honored guests before the game…. Health care workers from Tampa and around the country!” This performance comes just a few months after the singer released her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts.
In a press statement, NFL and TikTok shared that the event will feature other activities, too. A rep said, “The NFL TikTok Tailgate will feature special guests from the NFL, TikTok creators, surprise musical performances, gameday cooking segments, and much more.”
