Adele fans, it’s finally your moment to shine. After a six-year-long hiatus, the British singer-songwriter has awoken from her musical slumber to bring us an album that will most likely break our hearts and inspire us to love once again. Adele took to Twitter today to announce that she will finally be releasing a single and subsequent album very soon.

The new single, titled “Easy On Me,” is set to be released on October 15th, and are we ever ready. The promotional clip Adele released to promote the track is familiar in its aesthetic simplicity, as Adele has never really been a performer for extravagant theatrics. She rather boils everything down to simple, raw emotion of love and heartbreak, a severing of souls that is amplified by her pure musical talent, and a voice that is much coveted.

There are no words spoken in the 21 second promotional clip. It shows Adele putting a cassette tape (I hope I don’t have to explain what that is) into a car radio as she speeds down a highway. As she drives, pages upon pages of sheet music fly out of the car and into the surrounding environment. This is classic Adele, the symbolism here feels like catharsis of the heart. She’s letting go of something, driving away into new horizons with nothing but new possibilities in front of her, but making sure she leaves her mark on the way out.

The new album, while nothing has been confirmed, is hypothesized to be titled 30. This is the theory for a number of reasons considering that she’s followed a pattern of naming her albums after her age. But it was also sparked because seemingly random billboards across countries suddenly popped up with a simple “30” on them. Coincidence?

“30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” Adele wrote in an Instagram post. “No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough. I’ll learn to love you lot eventually. Bunch of f***ing savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you.”
