If you’ve been a fan of Tessa Thompson for a while, it’ll come as no surprise that it’s only day two of Venice Film Festival and already the actress has flawlessly pulled off the same amount of iconic fashion moments.

Thompson, who made headlines when she arrived at the event by boat wearing a sheer printed Victoria Beckham dress, paired with bright red gloves and a clashing Vivienne Westwood bag, quickly backed it up with a red carpet look that deserves an award of its own.

For the premiere of White Noise, the 38-year-old actress opted to take a leaf out of Bella Hadid’s book, wearing a vintage archival piece, instead of new season designer.

Thompson opted for a statement couture piece by Armani Privé, which debuted as part of the house’s autumn/winter 2009 couture show and is comprised of a strapless silver dress with a cascading peplum waist and embellishments on each side. The elegant piece is finished with a contrasting fitted black sequin skirt that sits just above the ankle.

To juxtapose the daintiness of the piece, Thompson wore a pair of black patent pumps, black Matrix-esque cat-eye sunglasses and a thick silver choker, which she tucked her long auburn hair into from behind, slicking it back to give the illusion of an up-do from the front:

Thompson, who is styled by the duo Wayman Deon and Micah McDonald (Wayman + Micah on Instagram), has long been a low-key style icon, but this year she’s taken things up a notch: from Loewe to MM6 Maison Margiela to Schiaparelli and that Met Gala moment, she hasn’t been holding back both on and off the red carpet (a shout out to her Schiaparelli, bike short street style combo in London earlier this year).

Thankfully, given her upcoming projects including the likes of Westworld season four and Creed III there are likely (hopefully) many more style opportunities to come. Here’s hoping she sticks around Cannes for the rest of the week, too, because a Don’t Worry, Darling premiere with the addition of a show-stopping look to distract from the drama is exactly what we need.
