The 79th Venice International Film Festival is finally here, which means it’s time to sit back and patiently wait to see what your favourite celebrities are wearing to the iconic event. One of the first cabs off the rank this year is Tessa Thompson, blessing us with a look that mixes lace, leather, and Vivienne Westwood.
Arriving at the Italian film festival overnight, Thompson layered a delicate black and gold lace dress over black trousers. Known for her accessories, she matches her dress and pants with cropped red leather gloves, LAPIMA sunglasses, a tartan Vivienne Westwood handbag, Anny Nord slingbacks, and wore an oversized black bow wrapped around her slicked-back bun.
Thompson stars in The Listener, which will be showing at the film festival in the coming days. Directed by Steve Buscemi, the film follows the story of Beth, played by Thompson, a helpline volunteer who is busy fielding a constant stream of phone calls from distressed and depressed people across America. What makes the film especially unique is that it includes only one on-screen role, which is Thompson’s Beth.
With Emmy-winning Buscemi at the helm and Emmy-nominated Thompson as the film’s only star, it’s certainly going to be one to watch. And when it comes to red carpet style at the festival, there’s no doubt Thompson will continue to exceed our already very high expectations.
