Over the last year, we’ve seen some great Schiaparelli moments — namely Cardi B’s gold mask at the American Music Awards. But now it’s Tessa Thompson‘s turn to shine in Fall 2021 Schiaparelli, holding true to the same black and gold motifs we’ve come to know and love with the Italian fashion house as of late. Thompson was featured on Instagram in the outfit while promoting her latest movie, Netflix’s Passing.
The outfit had multiple elements that were of interest, starting with the blazer portion that seems to be the star of this entire look. Not only does it follow a trend that we’ve been seeing with celebrities wearing oversized blazers, but the gold accessories and details in the blazer are what truly make it unique. Not to mention the bright pink lining in the interior of the blazer, which is a motif we’ll see again as we move towards the shoes.
Underneath the blazer is of course, a spin on the LBD (little black dress), with a mock turtleneck that turned a party-night staple into something a little more formal and structured. With an intentional seam down the middle, the dress has an additional layer of geometry and gives the garment a unique identity.
Now let’s get talking about these boots — not only do they tie into the sleek silhouette of the outfit seamlessly, but they offer stylistic motifs that we see all throughout the outfit. On the toes of these thigh-high boots we see the same gold that we see on the lock element on the blazer, and on the tip of of the heel, we see a wink of pink, the same we see in the lining of the blazer.
