Sienna Miller has been setting new fashion and beauty trends ablaze since 2003, when her unique looks first inspired a swathe of imitation. Her trademark boho aesthetic set her apart in the mid-to-late Noughties, and she’s never really left it behind.
Sure, the actress has undoubtably evolved – her studded Chloé Susanna Boots and maxi skirts remain a relic of the past – but there’s still something so distinctly effortless about her approach to glamor.
Her hair is a prime example – while the star wore it long, blonde and layered during her most public years, her recent appearance at the Gucci Love Parade revealed that she has chopped it all off into a statement-making long bob.
Arguably the most popular haircut amongst the style set in recent years, the ‘lob’ retains its popularity despite multiple predictions that long hair will be making a return. But Miller’s take adds a modern edge to the established favorite, with wispy bangs and shaggy layers.
Wearing an oversized crystal blazer with Gucci’s iconic logo tights, Miller’s hair reveal ensemble recalled her role as Sixties style icon Edie Sedgwick. Only this time her choppy locks hit just above her shoulders, with layers haphazardly snipped through her lengths to create an undone rock‘n’roll vibe.
Feathered, lash-skimming bangs also lent the lob haircut fresh life, as the Gucci ambassador posed for friend Derek Blasberg’s Instagram Story.
So it seems that we’ll be following Miller’s style cues once again with this new hair look, which has conveniently arrived just as the long bob reaches saturation phase. While the look was well overdue for an update, we’re glad it was the Factory Girl star to give us direction on how to evolve the aesthetic.
