When Valentino Spring/Summer 2021 made its debut in Milan last September, onlookers were surprised to discover a pared-back collection. Many floor-skimming gowns and glitzy cocktail dresses were replaced with classic blouses, wearable accessories and… denim jeans. The runway was of course a larger plan between Pierpaolo Piccioli and Levi’s for a reimagining of the brand’s classic boot cut: the iconic 517s.

Today, the coveted style reached luxury website, Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter, the exclusive global retailer of the collaboration. It is fitting (and imperative) to note the collaborative designs have been limited worldwide to just 517 units.

Each piece of denim is a vintage, unaltered original that has been upcycled from previously-worn 517 jeans. Characterized by one-of-a-kind peculiarities, every item bears a special label that shows its individual number. Our daily uniform has just received a luxury and extremely exclusive upgrade. The style is also available in a menswear iteration.

The luxury e-tailer will also be launching the Levi’s Re-Edition for Valentino styles – the re-elaboration of the original style, exclusively produced by Levi’s on occasion of the collaboration with Valentino Maison.

The Levi’s® for Valentino collaboration is arguably the most covetable denim to own this season,” says Libby Page, Senior Market Editor of NET-A-PORTER. “We love how Pierpaolo Piccioli has reimagined the timeless 517 style to make it fresh and relevant for today. It’s an immediate and clever response to what our customer wants right now and we are thrilled to be the exclusive global partner for the launch.”

“We are excited to be launching the highly anticipated Levi’s® for Valentino collaboration on MR PORTER –as if the original styles weren’t iconic enough, these new interpretations breathe life into a classic model, championing the craftsmanship and design we know our customers will respond to,” added Daniel Todd, Buying Manager of MR PORTER.

The collaboration arrives with excellent timing. During a post-pandemic era where our daily uniform has become more and more casual. Even as we return to the office and socializing alike. Shop the collection here.

In February, Levi’s joined fashionable forces with GANNI for denim peter-pan collars and printed jeans.
