The British Royal Family have taken to social media to wish Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie a happy 2nd birthday.
Archie, who has spent most of his young life outside of the UK, turned two on May 6.
Royal fans were surprised by the picture choices from Kate and Wills, and Prince Charles, however, as they were the same pictures shared for Archie’s first birthday in 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a family snap from Archie’s christening to celebrate the special day, adding: “Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today.”
Archie’s grandfather, Prince Charles – whom Harry alleged he had limited contact with – also shared a sweet black and white image of Harry proudly holding his son at the christening, adding his own birthday message.
The Queen’s Instagram page also posted a snap of Harry and Meghan with baby Archie, taken just days after his birth.
However, Meghan and Harry are mindful of what pictures of Archie are shared publicly, and in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Meghan shared why she felt she was entitled to a basic degree of privacy, even after marrying into the royal family.
“If you’re at work and you have a photograph of your child on your desk, and your coworker says, ‘Oh, my gosh, your kid’s so cute. That’s fantastic! Can I see your phone so I can see all the pictures of your child?’
You go, ‘No. This is the picture I’m comfortable sharing with you,'” she shared as an example.
During the interview, they also shared footage of the toddler running along the beach with his mother and father, and their pet pooch, Guy.
Harry was recently reunited with his family in Windsor after returning to the UK for the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip.
Meghan was not allowed to fly, due to being pregnant with their second child, and Harry sat by himself during the service, due to COVID-19 regulations.
However, he was later spotted walking back to Windsor Castle talking animatedly with William and Kate, suggesting the pair may be mending their relationship.
