Since announcing her first pregnancy with her rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky through a viral photoshoot on the streets of New York wearing a pink vintage Chanel jacket, it was clear Rihanna was going to be redefining all things maternity.

Though the Fenty founder’s bump-baring style has made headlines globally, she’s also been focused on ensuring her pregnancy works for her, continuing to front her billion-dollar brands, attend red carpet events, Oscars afterparties and, of course, her favorite L.A. restaurants. In fact, in lieu of a pastel-themed baby shower, Rihanna instead got her friends and family to her go-to Italian joint, the celebrity hot spot Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, on Sunday evening for a chic baby shower dinner.

For the occasion, Rihanna wore a sparkly YSL bra paired with matching sequin hot pants by Alexander Wang with her baby bump on full display. Over top, she wore an unbuttoned oversized white shirt with crystal-embellished cuffs also by Alexander Wang with a black blazer by Wardrobe NYC. She held a sparkly Balenciaga bag in her hand and wore her favorite pair of open-toe heels with sequins around the ankle by Alexandre Vauthier and wore her long brunette hair loose.

Her equally stylish boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, wore a dark gray hoodie with a print in white flowers over a gray shirt and a matching pair of jeans. He had on a jewelled belt and wore layered pearl necklaces. The outing marks the first time the pair have been spotted together in public since Rocky was arrested over the weekend in relation to a November shooting in Los Angeles. After posting $550,000 in bail, he was released from custody hours later.

Rihanna spoke about wanting an unconventional baby shower in a recent interview with Vogue, saying at the time, “No brunch, no blush tones. And no animal-shaped nothing. I mean it’s lit for a lot of people—I’ve even planned a couple of baby showers like that myself—it’s just not right for me.” She continued, “Personally, I want a party. I want everyone to be plastered and crawling out. And it’s got to be co-ed! Don’t put me on no wicker chair somewhere with gifts at my feet where everyone is staring at me.”

Rihanna added, there’ll be no gender reveal party, either. “I asked my doctor: Is something wrong with me for not wanting this? Because people keep asking me. Am I a bad mum? When we’re ready to tell the world, we’ll just tell them.”
