Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz tied the knot in Miami in April, and ever since the two said “I do,” rumors of a major rift between Peltz and her new mother-in-law, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, have stirred. As news of a “cold war” between the two continues to circulate, the newlyweds have decided to clear the air in a new interview.

Originally sparked by gossip Instagram page @DeuxMoi, Page Six picked up the story with claims that Peltz and Victoria, “can’t stand each other and don’t talk.”

Peltz revealed to Variety that she thinks all this began when she didn’t wear Victoria’s namesake brand on her wedding day. “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it,” Peltz said. “So then, I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”

Styled by Leslie Fremar, the bride donned a classic ivory bespoke Valentino Haute Couture wedding gown with custom lace detailing and a dramatic train, designed by the brand’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Brooklyn, the eldest child of Victoria and soccer star David Beckham, had his own point of view on the claims made in the press. “I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that,” he told the outlet. “They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”

In a move that many perceived to be addressing the tension, Peltz posted a teary-eyed photo of herself to Instagram four days ago writing, “Sometimes I find it hard to show the sad bits of me. Growing up with seven siblings and two very strong parents, made me really tough, they hammered it into me to not let people bring me down or hurt my heart.”

She continued, “It made me put such a wall up to protect myself especially in this industry. We all have days where people make you feel bad and it’s okay to be hurt by it. I just thought I would write something because I never show this side of me here. I wanted to show this side of me. I love you all so much and truly appreciate all of your support. It means so much when you guys are kind on my page I want you to know i see you, I hear you, and it means a lot to me 💘”

The story is age-old. Page Six reported that ahead of the lavish wedding, Peltz reportedly didn’t want Beckham “to be any part of the planning, and she wouldn’t clue Victoria in on anything. Communication was minimal,” an inside source told the outlet. “The build-up to the wedding was horrendous.”
