Nicky Hilton has always been chic and trendy, so it’s no surprise that her youngest daughter, Theodora “Teddy” Rothschild, is a budding fashionista.

“My youngest daughter is obsessed with fashion — she sleeps in party dresses,” the 38-year-old exclusively tells GRAZIA USA while talking about her Nicky Hilton x French Sole Spring 2022 Collection, which launched in April. “It’s become a thing. Now, my oldest — Lily Grace Rothschild — will get into her pajamas, but the little one gets into a party dress and then refuses to take it off.”

As for if her eldest daughter is also interested in joining the fashion world, the blonde beauty says, “She’s more like [sister] Paris [Hilton] where she likes it, but it’s not going to dictate her life.” But the entrepreneur wouldn’t be surprised if Teddy and her run a company together one day. “She really has gotten the style bug at the young age of 4,” the mom-of-three, who just welcomed her third child with husband James Rothschild, says.

In the meantime, the New York native has been busy, as she recently released the Nicky Hilton x French Sole Spring 2022 collection. The duo first teamed up for a Fall 2019 drop, and it was naturally a hit. This time around, Hilton introduced her first full sustainable collection, crafted using 100 percent recycled and vegan materials.

“I am a major ballet flat enthusiast. I live in ballet flats — I think they are just the perfect combination of comfort and elegance, and they’re very practical for my lifestyle. I feel like I’m constantly running around New York City, so I live in them,” she shares of the collab. “In recent years, I’ve started to use more sustainable materials. I feel like we all have a moral obligation to at this point.”

“It was really organic. I grew up in New York, and I went to a private, all girls school on the Upper East Side, and the only thing we were allowed to choose were our shoes. I was walking home from school one day, and I stumbled on the French Sole flagship store uptown. I fell in love with their shoes because we weren’t allowed to wear heels or anything, so I had to look for a really cute flat, and I started wearing them in high school all the way until now,” she says of how everything began. “The most fun part is being able to make things for me and my friends where I see a void in the market.”

What’s even better is that Hilton named “The Stacey” and “The Theodora” after her longtime friend, Stacey Bendet, founder of clothing brand Alice + Olivia, and the other after her youngest tot.

“She probably doesn’t understand about the naming part, but she knows mommy makes shoes, and I’m actually in the process of working on a mommy and me shoe,” she reveals. “[Teddy] has been trying on all the samples and helping me pick the color swatches. She loves it!”

Hilton “always knew” from a young age that she wanted to enter the fashion world, and though she is successful, she has more left to do. “I’ve been doing design for over 20 years, it’s pretty crazy!” she states. “I’ve done handbags, jewelry, apparel, footwear, and I have really been enjoying it. I love creating, I love making things for other women, and I’m excited to see what the future holds. I have a soft spot for accessories, so I hope to do more in that space.”

She adds, “My first true love was handbags, and that’s what I started with when I was 17 years old. So, maybe I will revisit that category down the road.”

Now, the businesswoman hopes to inspire her children to pursue their dreams one day. “I try and instill things my parents told me at a young age — you have to work hard and find something you love,” she says.
