If anyone knows their vintage fashion, it’s Miley Cyrus. The songstress brought in the New Year with her godmother, the legendary Dolly Parton, to co-host Miley’s New Year’s Eve Special on NBC in expectedly bombastic style from the archives.

Dipping into the vaults of Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Bob Mackie and more, Cyrus flexed her show-stopping fashion prowess on stage with the help of stylist Bradley Kenneth. The Plastic Hearts artist sported a curated wardrobe filled with blasts from the past styles, perfectly encompassing her quintessential glam rock flair.

Cyrus styled her bleach blonde tresses in glossy waves, with a flick of eyeliner for her sartorial tour de force of multiple outfit changes. “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party is about getting glamorous and dressing your best,” Cyrus said in a promotional video ahead of New Years, to which Parton responded, “Well, we do that every day, don’t we Miley?” Cyrus tells her godmother, “You taught me well.”

Speaking with Hoda Kotb on The Today Show ahead of the New Year’s Eve special, Cyrus revealed that the biggest lesson she’s learned from Parton is, “the meaning of a great seamstress that knows how to suck it in in all the right places.”

The holiday special, executive produced by Lorne Michaels and Cyrus, featured a brigade of performers and special musical guests, from SIA, Latto, David Byrne, Fletcher and even Paris Hilton.

During the special, the “Wrecking Ball” singer took the opportunity to announce that new music is on the way. Her forthcoming single “Flowers” is set to drop on Jan. 13.
