If you can’t get enough of the makeup looks in Euphoria, either can Maude Apatow, who plays Lexi in the HBO Max series.

“They sent us so much makeup for season 2 because the makeup was such a big part of season 1,” she said in a new interview. “I was always trying to figure out how to steal makeup because they didn’t really like us taking it.”

While it may be fun to try out a winged eyeliner or shiny eyeshadow, the 24-year-old admitted that her acne flared up when she was on set. “When I started working and wearing more makeup, my skin got a lot worse,” she shared. “I needed to come up with a routine, and this one I’ve used all through shooting Euphoria and it’s worked.”

Over time, the brunette beauty has “learned not to pick [her] skin because it spreads,” adding, “I never believed that when people told me that. Then I learned that if I pop zits, they travel.”

In fact, Apatow recalled when she broke out on set — and it was hard to deal with. “I was shooting Euphoria a couple months ago and I got three gigantic zits on my forehead. You couldn’t cover them, they were so big. And they stuck out,” she recalled. As a result, she told creator Sam Levinson to “be careful with the lighting.”

Despite not always feeling her best, Apatow now has some important knowledge in her back pocket that she thinks about from time to time.

“The one big thing I learned … is making sure all your makeup comes off at the end of the day,” she confessed. “It’s taken me a long time to figure out products that don’t make me break out. And even still, I think it’s just wearing so much makeup for so many hours, and reapplying it and reapplying it, it just gets like — it’s so hard not to break out.”

During season 2, Lexi and Fezco (Angus Cloud) strike up a romance — something the rising star did not see coming.

“It’s so nice to see people like it that much. I can’t even describe how crazy it is to go on Instagram and people have made the most like incredible drawings of us, and these dramatic edits of our love,” Apatow told Entertainment Weekly about her character’s love interest. “It’s so funny. But yeah, it’s a crazy positive reaction. I knew people were gonna like it, because it’s pretty sweet, but I wasn’t expecting this many people to like it. It’s crazy.”
