Margot Robbie turned heads in an unexpected red carpet look for the Babylon premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. Normally, she’s one to opt for Chanel or even Bottega Veneta as of late, but the acclaimed actress surprised us all in a cutout hooded Alaïa look from the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

The black hooded minidress featured a halter neckline that swept over her head and wrapped around her bust with a daring abs-baring cutout. The frock asymmetrically cascaded down into a feather-trimmed train on one side. Styled by Kate Young, Robbie teamed her look with black opaque Calzedonia stockings and classic black pumps.

The One Upon a Time in Hollywood actress kept her glam neutral while letting two tendrils of her dark blonde hair frame her face. The star accessorized with a statement silver bangle and sported a modern French manicure with slanted black tips.

The star attended the event alongside her mother, who matched her A-list daughter in black.

Robbie stars alongside Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, Toby Maguire, Olivia Wilde, Li Jun Li, Flea and Handmaid’s Tale actor Max Minghella, who joined her on the red carpet. Elle Fanning attended arm-in-arm with her beau Minghella, while Kelly Rowland, Taylor Hill, Eiza González, Alexis Ren, Selling Sunset‘s Chrishell Stause and more were also on-hand.

Directed by Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle, Babylon examines the outrageous decadence of 1920s Hollywood, following the rise and fall of several ambitious characters throughout the film.

Babylon is set to hit theaters on Dec. 23
