In a new report from Variety, Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd (whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) are slated to appear in an upcoming drama series by HBO. Dubbed “The Idol”, the series will be led by the “Blinding Lights” singer and Euphoria creator, Sam Levinson.

According to the publication the new production will follow a female pop singer (presumably played by Depp) who sparks a new romance with a club owner who is also a secret cult leader in Los Angeles. Tesfaye will also star in The Idol and is believed to portray the club owner. Currently the pair are the only announced cast members.

Levinson will executive produce and write, alongside Tesfaye and Reza Fahim who has experience in the nightlife industry. Fellow executive producers include Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen and Aaron L. Gilbert. Joseph Epstein will serve as show runner.

Depp is a woman of many talents and has not only appeared in recent blockbuster films such as Voyager and The King, but frequents the Chanel runway. The actress and model is believed to be dating Austin Butler (despite rumors she was seeing Timothée Chalamet). Depp is slated to appear in two upcoming films, a drama titled “Wolf” and star alongside Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode and Kirby Howell-Baptiste for “Silent Night”.

As for Tesfaye, this will be his debut acting role although he does have writing and directorial credits for his music videos, according to IMDb. The Grammy-winning artist threw the internet into hysterics this week after he was spotted on a rumored date night with actress and producer Angelina Jolie.

Now we think about it, perhaps it was a business meeting for his upcoming project? On a Saturday?

HBO is also preparing to release the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That. Stay tuned for further developments.
